INTRODUCTION
============
Your willingness to evaluate CMTS is greatly appreciated. You will soon
discover why CMTS has become one of the leading church management packages
available. This software is marketed as shareware, however it compares
favorably with commercial("retail") church systems often selling for several
thousand dollars. It is marketed entirely on the honor system, and
furthermore, you register only those modules you wish to use.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
===================
The software requires a DOS compatible computer with a minimum of 640K
memory running DOS version 3.0 or higher and a hard drive. A minimum
of 5 MEG of free disk space is required to install the system.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=========================
In some instances, you are receiving CMTS as three self-extracting
files, CMTSA.EXE, CMTSB.EXE and CMTSC.EXE. In other instances, the
software is distributed as CMTSA.ZIP, CMTSB.ZIP, and CMTSC.ZIP. If you
experience any difficulty in installing this software, do not hesitate
to call for help. We will be glad to assist you.
IF THE SOFTWARE IS IN ZIP FORMAT
================================
In instances where you receive this software in ZIP format, unzip
the files CMTSA.ZIP and CMTSB.ZIP and CMTSC.ZIP. If you have copies
of the original zip files, you should receive an "Authentic Files
Verified" message as each file is unzipped. You should now have each
of the self-extracting files CMTSA.EXE, CMTSB.EXE, and CMTSC.EXE.
INSTALLING THE SELF-EXTRACTING FILES
====================================
The files CMTSA.EXE, CMTSB.EXE, and CMTSC.EXE are compressed files.
They will expand onto your current directory. DO NOT INSTALL THESE FILES
ONTO A FLOPPY DISK! To install this software onto your hard drive, create
a directory on your hard drive that will be dedicated to this software.
Example: C: (Assuming drive C) Press <ENTER>
MD \CMTS32 Press <ENTER>
Make this (C:) your active drive and directory.
Example: CD \CMTS32 Press <ENTER>
Copy each file to your hard drive as follows. Place the disk with CMTSA.EXE
in your floppy drive. Copy the self-extracting program as follows:
(Assuming it is on drive A:)
Example: COPY A:CMTSA.EXE Press <ENTER>
Run each installation program. (Be sure your active drive and
directory is your hard drive and the CMTS directory. You must be at
the C: prompt (or other hard drive)!
Example: CMTSA Press <ENTER>
Repeat this procedure for CMTSB.EXE and CMTSC.EXE. Once extracted, the
files CMTSA.EXE, CMTSB.EXE and CMTSC.EXE may be removed if necessary to
conserve disk space.
CREATING SAMPLE DATA FILES
==========================
The software comes with sample data files to allow the user to quickly
evaluate the system. To create the sample data files, run the self-
extracting programs SAMPLE1.EXE and SAMPLE2.EXE. If previous files
have been created, remove any associated keyfiles.
Example: SAMPLE1 Press <ENTER>
SAMPLE2 Press <ENTER>
DEL *.K* Press <ENTER>
IMPORTANT: Insure that your CONFIG.SYS file contains values at least
as great as "FILES = 40" (or greater). Failure to do this
will result in the DOS "Too many open files" error. In case
of difficulty installing this software, please give us a

The software is now installed with sample data. To run the program,
execute CMTS.

LIVE IMPLEMENTATION
===================
After evaluating the software using the sample data files, empty files
must be created using FILECRE.EXE. Read chapter 11 of the manual on
Live Implementation for more information prior to going live.
IF YOU ARE A REGISTERED USER UPGRADING FROM AN EARLIER VERSION OF CMTS
======================================================================
Many of the file layouts have changed from earlier versions of the
software. If you are upgrading from an earlier version, follow the
upgrade instructions enclosed with your registered package and run
the conversion program specific to the version you are converting from.
In no instance, is it necessary to re-enter any information.
